Valerie began her interest in painting as a child in rural
Pennsylvania. Influenced by her best friends’ parents, who
were both fine art painters, she watched them paint and was
also encouraged to take up the brush during her many visits
to their home.
After painting for many years with oils and acrylics she
began trying new mediums. Being drawn to Japanese art she
started painting with colored inks, often mixing them with
metallic and iridescent pigments. With an affinity for
gardening and floral arranging, flowers became the subject of
her desire to express beauty and light through translucent
colors and arrangement.
Her designs are graphic compositions of her paintings and
her sentiments are simple expressions she writes from
intuition and inspiration.
What began as a single Easter card to family and friends
has evolved into "Ink Buds Stationery Products".
