Rachel Brown, of Rachel B. Originals, has lived in Strafford, NH
since 1990 and has been a member of Valley Artisans since 2006.
Rachel has been sewing for a number of years and is self-taught
in handbag design. Her handbags are usually made from different
faux suede and faux leathers for the body. The flaps and panels on
the bags are made of a handmade material using fancy yarns,
sewn flat with tulle and mono filament threads to produce a
stunning fabric. Each has at least 5 pockets, all have cell phone
size pockets and there are at least 5 different styles to choose from.
New this year are fabric gift bags called "Any Occasion gift
bags", these are small square bags sewn with different novelty
fabrics for your gift giving needs. She is also working on two tote
bag styles; one has 10 small pockets on the outside on each side
of the tote. These are a great size for scissors, rulers, pencils,
markers etc., great for crafters, sewers and scrap booker's.
The second tote is a very large bag with big pockets on both the
outside and inside of the tote and they come in many coordinating
novelty fabrics.
She said, “Fabric and color are a passion for me and handbags
have always been a fun and exciting item for me to sew and
design”.
